What the OV05 is NOT (honest limitations)
Not an active GPS tracker – This is a broadcast‑only iBeacon. It does not have GPS, cellular, or WiFi. It sends BLE advertisements that gateways or phones listen to.
Not waterproof – The OV05 has no IP rating. It is for indoor or sheltered outdoor use. Avoid immersion or heavy rain.
Range is line‑of‑sight – 80–100m is only achievable in open space. Metal shelves, concrete walls, and human bodies reduce effective range significantly.
Not a two‑way device – It only transmits beacons; it cannot receive commands or firmware updates over the air (OTA) without additional hardware. Use the configuration tool over BLE to change settings locally.
CR3032 batteries are less common than CR2032 – The larger capacity comes with a slightly less standard size. We can supply replacement batteries in bulk.
We'd rather you know these limits upfront. If you need waterproofing or two‑way communication, ask us about the OV07 or OV10 series.
